“… and then we’re going to a fancy restaurant to finish the night,” Naruto said telling Hinata about the things he wanted them to do right after he had picked her up, and  taking Sasuke’s advice to take her somewhere else. It had been almost a month since he initially asked her cancelling their date after Sasuke insisted he needed more training. Anything with the word training in it was great for Naruto until he was in a suit having casual conversation with Ino. Hinata was just glad he finally asked her again because she picked out the lavender cotton dress just for the occasion. They were walking to a pond that Naruto had said was “really pretty” at night and then they were going to a restaurant that he said a friend recommended to eat something. Hinata was taken by surprise at the sudden change in the menu she was expecting.

“But N-Naruto wouldn’t you rather go to Ichiraku’s?” she inquired softly. “Why the sudden change?”

“My friend said that eating at Ichiraku’s all the time gets boring so since I took you to Ichiraku’s on our last date we’ll go somewhere else this time and then next time we’ll go to Ichiraku’s,” he told her. He still thinks that last time was a date! I thought he was joking. And he said next time. Why the sudden interest in me? They weaved through a forested part of the village, and he veered off of the path, she was confused, but he seemed to know where he was going. The trees began to get denser until they were barely squeezing between two trees when thy burst into a small clearing that.

“Hey Hinata,” Naruto said breaking her from her thoughts. “We made it!” She looked around and Naruto was right the pond was really pretty at night. It was about five feet in diameter and three feet deep. The water shimmered a deep blue almost black color as fish darted in and out of sight while fireflies flew around briefly illuminating small parts of the pond.

“Wow,” she breathed as she knelt by the pond swirling the water around with her finger. Naruto watched Hinata as she let the fish nibble at her fingers and vainly tried to catch the fireflies. She caught him watching her and they both blushed. He lay on his back with his hands behind his head. Hinata curious lay back to and watched him for almost five minutes before asking:

“Naruto what are you looking at,” surprising herself by not stuttering. He grinned at her.

“I don’t know I just like watching the stars move I guess. Yesterday that one was over there,” he said pointing to show her where the star had moved. She watched them it did seem as if after awhile the stars had moved even slightly. She sighed all of a sudden she felt really tired. It might have been all the extra training she had been doing to avoid Sakura’s never ending questions. If she stayed out late enough she could miss Sakura and her father.

Naruto scooted closer to Hinata because he started feeling colder, but she didn’t seem to notice. He started thinking that it might be time to start heading back to the village so they could make his reservation, but he decided to wait a few more minutes it wouldn’t hurt.

Hinata lay next to Naruto he scooted a bit closer, but she didn’t mind she enjoyed the warmth of him next to her. She yawned dimly remembering something about a restaurant but couldn’t quite place her finger on it before slowly falling asleep.

Naruto looked at Hinata curled up at his side asleep. His head told him to wake her up so he could take her to the restaurant, but the rest of his body told him sleep was inevitable so he gave up on it, and followed Hinata’s example.

Sakura scowled she hadn’t seen Hinata all morning and when she finally came back around five she pronounced that she had to take a shower and locked herself in the bathroom for half an hour. Then she locked herself in her room for another hour. Then she ran to the kitchen and stuffed her mouth full of bread so she couldn’t answer any of Sakura’s questions at least without spraying bread crumbs all over the table. Then when someone knocks on her door she swallows the entire mouthful and rushes to answer it. Who do you think is at the door, none other than Naruto who she had been trying to ask about all day. Naruto then grins at Sakura greets her than whisks Hinata out the door as if it were the most normal thing in the world and she stands there in the doorway with her mouth open watching them leave. So she’s now sitting there fuming and waiting for Hinata to come back so she could corner her finally. But now she was starting to get worried because it was really late and she wasn’t back.

“Stupid dobe,” Sauske muttered watching the clock tick past midnight, then 1am, then 2. What did he do? Sauske sighed, what was that idiot’s problem? He probably took it too far. He was always an idiot. Sleep with the daughter of a man that could see through walls, smart one Naruto. He turned off his light and went to bed still wondering about his friend’s safety.

Naruto woke up his eyes still closed. Great he thought. We missed the reservation. Now where am I supposed to take her for the rest of the night? He opened his eyes and tried to let them get adjusted to the light… He sat up quickly. The light his mind screamed. Its night there isn’t supposed to be light! As soon as his eyes adjusted he looked up judging the time from how far the sun had moved. He groaned it had to be past at least past noon. Not good. Sakura was going to kill him when he finally got Hinata back. She’d kill him then bring him back from the brink of death, just to kill him again. He sighed and gently began shaking her awake.

Ah yes. If all fathers had the byakugan, chances are we'd be dead. Killed in the most grusome and painful way enver.
